Hey, fellow DIYers! I hope everyone is healthy and enjoying your stay at home! Please, don’t forget to wash your hands and practice social distancing. I know we are living in crazy times but remember “this too shall pass!”. Just keep a positive mindset and everything will be ok! Well, today I want to show you how to make a bamboo blanket ladder for not only your blankets but for anything you want storage for. These could be your scarfs, your towels, your magazines or you can even hang some flower pots and bring them outdoors. And the best part is that you don’t need any power tools and it only costs under $5! How cool is that?

So, let’s junp right in!
Supplies
- 3 bamboo stakes 60″ long (you can find them at the floral section at your local hardware store)
- miter box and hand saw
- jute twine
- glue gun and glue sticks
- scissors
- tape measure
Start by marking your bamboo at the 20″ mark (you will see why below) and do this two times and then cut them, using your hand saw, at those marks. You will end up with three equal sticks. These will be your rungs.
Then lay out your longer stakes on the floor and measure the distance between them. I opted for 15″ apart and that’s why I cut the rungs at 20″ long because I wanted the edges to overlap a bit.
Here, Im marking 12″ from the top.This is where I’m placing my first rung.
Next, cut a long piece of jute twine and start lashing. The best way to learn lashing is through a video I found from ITS Tactical. I didn’t follow the exact steps of the video but I learned that you can play around with different lashing styles. There are plenty of different ways to try.
This is how mine turned out!
In order to secure it, I poured a lot of hot glue at the back to make the lashing stronger and sturdier and then I cut the excess twine.
For the second and third rung, I left 14″ between them and placed the bamboos at that mark.
